Shotgunning Techniques And Tips

TIP 1.

To improve your shotgunning technique, its essential to practice and practice often. Do the following: Stand erect, feet spaced shoulder-width apart.

Swing and mount an unloaded shotgun to your face in front of a mirror. Do not tilt your head or lower your face to the stock – just mount to the same place on your face every time. Do this a dozen times.

TIP 2.

Good shotgunning technique requires you position your feet correctly every time. How? Simple.

If you are a right handed shotgunner, position your left foot to point at the target and keep your feet shoulder-width apart. This position helps with swinging and mounting your shotgun smoothly and consistently.

TIP 3.

Beginner shotgun shooters need to understand that you do not aim with a shotgun – you point instead.

Keep your eyes on the target, swing and mount the shotgun and shoot. Focusing on the gun barrel or bead simply slows down your swing and causes you to shoot behind.

You’d be surprised how quickly your shotgunning accuracy improves once you learn to point and shoot.
