Game/Trail Cameras – Tips Before Buying (Part 2)

4 more tips when deciding to buy a game camera…

1. Time & Date Stamp – Most, but not all, cameras have a time/date stamp feature. This feature will let you know what time of day an animal has visited your hunting area. If this is important to you, make sure your camera has this feature.

2. Type & Range of Flash – Game/trail cameras use either an infrared or incandescent flash. Incandescent flash will provide superior picture quality, but infrared flash uses less battery power. The infrared flash also fires quicker and may be less likely to spook an animal. Some high end cameras offer both types of flash, allowing the camera owner to switch back and forth.

3. Amount of Memory – Most game/trail cameras use removable SD memory cards. Most cameras come with an SD card. Cameras have different maximum SD cards sizes that they will take. A larger card will hold more images in the field.

4. Wireless Capability – If you are willing to pay more, you can purchase a wireless camera that will transmit your images directly to your personal computer without you actually having to go out in the field.

There are many different brands and models of game/trail cameras available. To help select the best game/trail camera for you, consider the area you will be placing it in and make a list of the features that are most important to you. This will help you pick out a great game/trail camera that will help you have a fun, successful hunt.
