3 Important Rifle Scope Tips

TIP 1.

The biggest problem when mounting a scope is aligning the crosshairs with the gun. The vertical crosshair should point down through the center of the bore. If
the scope is tilted, the gun will actually be shooting from one side to the other.

Now scope mounting is made easy with the ‘Reticle Leveler’ from Segway Industries. Held in place with a thin rubber band, it sits on the scope base, below the scope, and instantly allows exact crosshair alignment. A simple tool that works.

TIP 2.

Warne quick-detachable mounts is the answer for the hunter who wants his scope easily removed. Check out Leupold as well for such mounts.

European hunters often carry their scope in a pouch on the belt until they want to use it. Overseas hunters often like to remove their scope and pack it seperately for transportation to avoid damage.

Quick-detachable mounts are precision made and will return the rifle to zero every time.

TIP 3.

Unwanted and unexpected fliers shooting from the bench can be caused by overly tight scope rings, which place the scope under stress. The main cause of stress is tightening one scope ring, then the other. Instead, alternately tighten scope ring screws.

Also, tightening the ring screws too much will will contribute to scope stress. Base screws should be as tight as possible and loc-tited, but rings should only be tight enough to hold the scope.
